Jaguars @ Eagles - Halftime Speech
JT: What are we doing out there?
The first quarter was typical Jaguars football and then after Lawrence missed a wide open Agnew in the endzone the entire team fell apart. Here is what JaguarsTalk would tell Jacksonville if Pederson gave us the reins and let us loose in the locker room.
To the offense. Relax. Run the ball more in the early downs. JAX was getting five and six yards every run in the first quarter. Screen passes up the middle haven’t been tried yet and should be. J-Rob and ETN will need to carry this team. We need to get back to long sustained drives that give our defense time to catch their breath. The Eagles are playing smash mouth football and exhausting our defense. Complementary ball went out the window in the second quarter for Jacksonville and Doug Pederson needs to go back to better play calling. Run the ball more and throw it up the middle with screens and slants. Small gains every play. Wait for the big one to open up but feast off the small stuff.
To the defense. Where is your pride? You are getting punched in the mouth every down. The Eagles are pushing our defensive line straight down the field with ease. The Jags are getting manned up and dominated. The entire reason that this defense was put together was to stop the run. It’s gut check time. That is all this is right here. This is smash mouth football at its best. If you want to be the best you have to beat the best. The Eagles have the best offensive line in the NFL. It’s a four quarter game folks, play like it. To the defense, this is just a gut check. When you are punched in the mouth you have to punch back.
Most importantly hold on to the ball. Jacksonville MUST win the turnover game today. Philly has 14 points off turnovers.
That is the key to winning this game for the Jaguars. Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
