Jaguars vs Cowboys - Halftime Speech

JT: Halftime Speech is written during the actual halftime of the game

As if JaguarsTalk was invited into the locker room to help Dougie P. with all needed halftime adjustments. This game has huge ramifications for both teams. Dallas wins and they are in the playoffs. Jaguars win and their playoff hopes are alive and well. If the Jaguars lose, they still have a chance at the post season. It will be more difficult however as the Thursday night NY Jets game will be a must win at that point. That is why this second half performance is so important for both teams. Let’s take a look at the adjustments the Jaguars need to make right now to pull out this win.

To the Offense: I’m not sure if you are doing your best impression of this weeks Minnesota Vikings team, but the Cowboys are NOT the Colts. This team won’t roll over in the second half like [Jeff] Saturday’s on Saturday. ETN has established himself as a fumbler, and at the worst times. He gifted Dallas a TD after the Jags D held the Boys on their first drive. To win, the Jags need to replicate their scoring drive. Short, quick, pass plays. Throw tight end screens and screens to the RBs. Take advantage of the Cowboy’s aggressiveness. Screens, motion, mix it up Doug. That will open up the long passes. Also, don’t forget the run. You were running on their defense during the first half. 4 yards at a time keeps their offense off the field. The offense IS the defense this game so you have to eat clock and finish with points.

To the Defense: I’m confused. Devin Lloyd started at ILB over Chad Muma? Why isn’t Mike Caldwell taking advantage of all the talent? Put ‘em both on the field and let Lloyd eat at OLB. There have been a couple plays when the defense hasn’t even been set when Dak snapped the ball. That is inexcusable. The defense needs to tighten up. DC MC needs to mix it up and be more aggressive. What you are doing right now isn’t working so Caldwell needs to go all out. Blitz, and stunt and get aggressive. Overload one side and rush Dak. Force turnovers, or at the very least some punts.

Either way the Jags HAVE TO SCORE with their first possession of the second half.
