Halftime Speech: Jaguars vs Broncos (London)
JT: JaguarsTalk halftime speech written in real time.
One of these days Head Coach Doug Pederson will invite me into the locker room to give the boys a pep talk before the second half. So what can we say about the play in the first half and the adjustments the Jags need to make to win this game.
On the offense: Trevor Trevor Trevor, it must be in his contract to throw an interception in the endzone/red zone every week. At what point are we going to learn to throw the ball away. You did a great job of it earlier in the game. You would tuck and run, throw it out of bounds, hell you even threw one out of the back of the end zone, on purpose. So why, when the field was shrinking with every step (that was a horrible play call to begin with. Why make a small field even smaller?) did you try to force something that obviously wasn’t there? Doug is kicking field goials today for goodness sake. It would have been fine to get one in that situation.
The key for this offense is and has always been, be efficient, don’t turn the ball over (especially in the red zone), eat clock, and ruin the ball more. Doug has been good about running the ball in the first half but he is not great at running it in the second so let’s hope he keeps feeding ETN this week. Essentially, the key to this Jaguars offense is to not shoot yourselves in the foot. Stop beating yourself Jacksonville. Call the plays that are working and don’t turn the ball over. Period. It is simply that easy. Oh and if you want to score more, match up ETN and Evan Engram on linebackers. All. Day. Long.
On the defense: Playing great folks, but you have no excuse not to be. The Broncos offense is horrible. One of the worst in the league. How did you let Mr. High Knees get into a rhythm and connect with Jerry Jeudy on a drive leading to a TD. Defense, play Smoot and Key for the rest of the game. They are hungry. They are getting penetration and sacks. Keep them involved. Pressure, pressure, pressure. Trust your DBs and blitz Dangeruss. Rattle Wilson and turnovers will come your way. Great job #32, keep it up. We own the third quarter so let’s own the entire second half this game.
